Let’s Talk: Tamil Movies = Marana Mass

A formula which rules South India

Tamil Movies = Marana Mass

Movies in South India has always been something people literally worship. Over here, movies are not just treated as mere entertainment, with every film comes a great message to the society. Every movie has its own strong script and of course this industry is always flooding with new talents!

Tamil Cinema, has continued to be colourful and soulful from the time of its birth. I feel there is a distinct quality which makes Tamil movies different from others.

Any amount of magic can happen over here…

There was this man who was a bus conductor, but little did he know that one day he will literally be the biggest superstar of India and that he means the world to his fans.. The person I am talking about is Rajinikanth.

But of course, we always have to remember the people who were the one who built the foundation of Tamil cinema. The list is very big, we have Sivaji Ganesan, MGR, Gemini Ganesan, R. Muthuraman and so on. This people are still the inspiration of many.

Now Tamil cinema has come to a stage were people from other industries are dying to buy our scripts and remake them! This period is indeed a joy for Tamil Industry! I don’t know about else where, but in Tamil Nadu, cinemas play a huge role in getting out social messages to the public and making them aware of it, in latest the movie ” Vellai illa Pattathari” , has been soaring high because of its amazing content, it portrays the current situation of engineers and job seekers, it also comes out with huge message of importance of mother in our life.

When a movie releases here, it is literally a celebration!! Stars like Vijay, Ajith, Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Suriya, Vikram and of course new talents like Sivakarthikeyan, Vijay Sethupathi all receive the same amount of support from audience irrespective of the time they have spent in the industry!

I am pretty sure this is the only industry where the bond between actors and fans are so closely held!!

take care

from the not so

  1. Hey Perfectgirl,

You really made a post of Tamil movies *surprised and trying to cover my mouth*.

I had my fair share of Tamil movies, especially those which were good. But to be honest with you, only 50% or less are good now a days I reckon.

Many of our youngsters have received chances and made it big in Tamil industry. I am really amazed by the number of youngsters that make it to film industry there. Even Asin made it big from there.

My favorite actor in Tamil is Suriya. He stands out of them all and can portray any role (so is Vikram, but you know :D). Very bright chap.

A movie that comes into my mind for you is ‘godfather’ in which Ajit portrays father and twin sons. If you haven’t watched it please do. I liked that movie a lot, especially the song keeps playing in loop even now in my media player 😀

    Keep writing 🙂

    1. I’ll have to agree that not many movies these days are coming with good scripts or good “acting”.. The existence of Power Star as an actor, makes me doubt the world .. O.O

But, there are still many talents making it really big! As you said Asin is one good example! Dhanush, I don’t even have to mention.. He has been reaching great heights lately.. And of course A R . RAHMAN!! He is a genius!

Yes I have seen Godfather by Ajith ( Thala.. Hehe). The songs are amazing as you said.. AR. Rahman magic!!

      1. Mass murder these days 😀

Godfather had good songs, one of them very special as I said.

So when is your next movie *giggles*

      2. My next movie?!

Yeah! So talks are on with Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar… I’ll be doing a song with A.R. Rahman too.. Quite busy!! Also I am preparing my Oscar speech, as I am sure I’ll get it once more!! .. Nothing much… *in a highly irritating diva voice*

      3. Yeah! There are high possibilities! I just don’t wanna make the other so-called talented actresses cry.. You see I’m a good person.. *in a even more irritating diva voice*

      4. See! I am a soulful actor! I make people cry blood! I mean come on which actor can do that!! I deserve extra 139000 awards for this!! CLAP FOR ME PEOPLE!!

      5. Oh na na na na! Don’t compare my life with twilight!! I feel those actors immediately have to come and learn acting from me!! *doing it the diva style*

  2. The kind of fan following one sees for Rajnikant, is something you probably can’t see for another actor or in any other film industry. And this holds true even outside India.

I have seen quite a few Tamil movies, mostly recommended by friends. I can’t follow the language word to word, but some of the songs are simply amazing. Vaaranam aayiram, Kandukondain Kandukondain, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Minnale and Alaipayuthey are a few movies that I fondly remember.

I haven’t been actively following the Tamil movie scene, so do share some recommendations if you can 🙂

    1. You’re right! Rajinikanth is almost treated like a god here!! I remember that year, when he fell sick, the whole of Tamil Nadu was shaken!! Like literally temples were flooding with poojas!! The love people have for him is unconditional!!

I have a lot of suggestions for you!! 😀

Vellai illa pattathari- this movie makes you cry, laugh, dance all at the same time! At the end of the movie you’ll have a big grin on your face!

Raja Rani- A very good love story

Engeyum Eppodum- This will make you think!

Ethir Neechal – A very strong script!!

I’ll stop here!! After you finish with these films, I’ll throw more amazing films at you!!!

A glass of whiskey for your perspective?!
